Pakistan International School Naseriya (PISN) completed a double by winning the under-15 and under-19 Zultec Cups. The tournament was sponsored by Zultec Company and organized by Riyadh Cricket Association (RCA) at RCA grounds in Sulay area here. In the under-19 age group, PISN easily defeated Sri Lankan International School (SLIS) to register its second consecutive title. PISN boys took the first strike but were unable to score freely as the SLIS bowlers kept a good line and length. Trying to force the pace they lost some early wickets. Opener Abdul Qadir made a sedate 28 runs and middle order batsman Mohammed Saqib made a valuable 54. Abdul Salam also batted sensibly to make 48 which helped PISN compile 196 in the allotted 20 overs. For SLIS Shefan Hameed took 3 wickets. SLIS boys lost 3 wickets early and it never recovered. Only Abeyratne batted with freedom to score 50 runs which contained 6 boundaries. The SLIS innings folded for just 115. M. Saqib was the wrecker in chief with 4 wickets to complete a grand all-round display of his skills. He was named the Man of the Match. In the under-15 age group, PISN routed Middle East International School (MEIS) by nine wickets to bag the trophy. MEIS won the toss and chose to bat, but none of the batsmen stayed at the crease. The running between the wickets was poor and it resulted in 4 run outs. The team collapsed to 118 runs. For PISN, Abdul Waheed and Shiraz took two wickets each. The PISN youngsters reached the target in style by losing only one wicket. Abdul Waheed made a fluent 52. Shiraz Shafiq also was in fine nick as he made an unbeaten 38. Abdul Waheed was declared the Man of the Match. After the match a grand prize distribution ceremony was held. There were around 700 spectators on the ground including a good number of families. RCA had made special arrangements by erecting a separate tent for the families. A lucky draw was held for women only. Presiding over the event, Abdul Qadeer Mirza congratulated the winning teams and thanked the team managers for maintaining a high standard of discipline. He also praised the efforts of RCA committee members and thanked Zulqarnain Ali Khan, CEO of Zultec and Shuja Rahman, Regional Sales Manager, Zultec, for sponsoring this unique event. Following players were given trophies and gifts for their outstanding performances. Under 19: Best batsman –Abdul Qader of PISN, best all-rounder – Buddhi Abeyratne of SLIS, best bowler – Shefan Hameed of SLIS, best wicketkeeper – Sameed Lodhi of Manarath Al-Riyadh School. Under-15: Best batsman – Hisham Sheikh of MEIS, best all-rounder – M. Atif of Indian Public School, best wicketkeeper – Hisham Sheikh of MEIS. Middle East International School awarded the best sportsman spirit trophy. __
