Overcrowding in Saudi prisons is a thing of the past, General Ali Bin Hussien Al-Harthi, Director General of Prisons, has said. Al-Harthi was responding to the National Human Rights Society's report on the overcrowding in prisons. Al-Harthi cited an announcement from Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Interior, that more correction houses will be built, and to the ministry's approval of establishing 34 new correction houses in different regions.
