A court in Al-Khobar has ordered a security guard to pay up SR131,000 to the company where he worked after running up an astronomical telephone bill using “international friendship lines.” The company noticed the unusually high bill due to a series of international calls and pointed the finger at the security guard during whose shift the calls were made, demanding that the sum be repaid. The accused has decided to appeal the court's guilty verdict, saying that he could not have been responsible as he only had an internal line and no outside line permitting him to make international calls from his telephone.
