French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said here Sunday that the initiative for Arab reconciliation taken by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, at the Kuwait summit offered hope of a joint and actual movement for Palestinian unity. Speaking at a press conference after meeting with King Abdullah, Kouchner said he conveyed to the King a message from President Nicolas Sarkozy that discussed ways of cooperation between the two countries. Kouchner said his discussions with the King covered the situation in the Middle East, the efforts for Palestinian national reconciliation, the problems facing the Arab World, and the global economic crisis. He said he had “useful and effective” meetings with Trade and Industry Minister Abdullah Zainal and other senior Saudi officials during his one-day visit. The discussions included the global financial crisis ahead of the G20 summit of leaders from major developed and emerging economies due to be held in London next month.
