King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and president of the Higher Education Council, has approved a number of resolutions adopted by the Council at its 53rd session. This was announced in a statement to Saudi Press Agency by Dr. Khaled Al-Anqari, Minister of Higher Education. He noted that the resolutions included establishment of two supporting deanships of library affairs at the branch of King Faisal University in Dammam, and the deanship of electronic education and distance education at Jizan University. The resolutions also included establishment of some institutes and research centers at some universities. Dr. Al-Anqari said the King's approvals also included a memorandum of understanding signed by the Islamic University and King Hassan II University in Casablanca in addition to some other academic assignments. Dr. Al-Anqari said the Higher Education Council approved the establishment of an agency for academic development and community services at Hail University. The King's endorsements were also comprised of a number of annual reports for the National Commission for Evaluation for 1428 Hijra and the annual report for the Islamic University for the fiscal year 1427-28 Hijra, the annual report of King Adulaziz University, the annual report for King Khalid University for the same period and the annual report for Qassim University for the fiscal year 1426-1427 Hijra. Dr. Al-Anqari said the approval of the King of these resolutions embodies his keenness for the development of the educational sector and mobilization of the available potentialities for the preparation of qualified generations who will serve the country and the citizens.
