THE seventh edition of the GTC (General Talent Competition) 2009 will begin on April 15. The competition, organized by the Muslim Educational Society (MES - Jeddah Chapter), is conducted on an annual basis for the curricular and co-curricular improvement of the students of the Indian expatriate community and has been a success with over 6000 students participating in the previous years. The objective of the GTC is to test and select ‘The Most Talented All-Round Indian Boy' and ‘The Most Talented All-Round Indian Girl' each from three categories of students in the lower secondary, secondary and higher secondary schools respectively. Students are initially screened by a preliminary exam, scheduled to take place on April 15, at their respective schools. They then go through the three stages of the competition which include a quiz, a geography test, essay competitions, elocution, and finally the stage interview. The whole event will last for about a month. The winner from each category shall be selected by adding the marks obtained in all three stages scored out of 600 marks. One winner from each category of students scoring the highest marks in all three stages shall be declared as the Most Talented All-Round Indian Boy and the Most Talented All-Round Indian Girl. The competition is conducted in cooperation with the Indian Consulate with the active participation of various schools following the Indian curriculum in Jeddah.
