Hadhrami, whose precise age is not known, came to the Kingdom as a child with his father, and since his father's death has lived in several cities, surviving without any formal identification or nationality. Or at least that was the case until Okaz newspaper published his story recently provoking a flood of telephone calls from individuals, among them people claiming to be distant relatives of his who knew his family in Yemen. Al-Hadhrami had previously approached authorities in Yemen, but due to his lack of legal documents he was unable to identify any relatives living there and was denied official help. Now, via contact with callers to Okaz, Al-Hadhrami has been able to make acquaintance with two sisters in Yemen and through formal identification obtain a visa from the Yemeni consulate in Jeddah. Al-Hadhrami has since been granted a passport, giving him full identity as a citizen of Yemen and completing his release from limbo. Following his recent trip to his homeland, Al-Hadhrami says he plans to bring his newly-wed wife with him to the Northern Frontier province where he has lived almost all his life.
