The Ministry of Finance has sanctioned funds for improvements to 79 kidney dialysis centers at a cost of SR28 million, the replacement of 33 centers costing SR218 million, and the setting up of 34 new centers for SR95 million over the next five years. The ministry has also budgeted for the upgrading of 500 out of 950 dialysis machines around the country to be carried out in the next few days. Dr. Abdullah Al-Dughaither, executive manager of the Prince Fahd Bin Salman Society for Kidney Failure Patients, said that benefits for kidney failure patients have also been raised to SR10,000. “Claimants should contact the Ministry of Social Affairs and have their personal information updated to receive the benefits,” Al-Dughaither said. Every year 2800 Saudis are diagnosed with kidney failure.
