The Shaw Group Inc. won a contract to design a grassroots 200 kilotons-per-year acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, or ABS synthetic rubber, plant for the Arabian Petrochemical Co., Shaw officials said on Thursday. Shaw said its Energy & Chemicals Group has been awarded a contract to provide front end engineering design (FEED) services for a grassroots 200 kilo tons per annum (KTA) ABS plant for Arabian Petrochemical Company. The plant will be built at Al-Jubail, Saudi Arabia. Shaw also will provide procurement services for equipment installed at the plant. Shaw didn't disclose the contract value. SABIC Innovative Plastics Technologies Inc., formerly GE Plastics Global Technology LLP is providing the emulsion ABS technology for the project. “This contract marks the third recent ABS project awarded to Shaw, continuing the strategic expansion of our polymer technology experience,” said Lou Pucher, president of Shaw's Energy & Chemicals Group, which will perform the work in a press statement.
