Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani appears to be the first victim of President Asif Ali Zardari's extreme anger and vengeance as the Chaudhrys of Gujrat (Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi) and the president are believed to have agreed to form an alliance to oust the premier, said a news report. This new strategy envisages that the “forward bloc” (deserters) of Chaudhrys' Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) in Punjab would be legally stopped by the president by issuing an ordinance to support the PML-Nawaz, and, once Punjab was under control, the PPP and PML-Q will go ahead with their coalition in Islamabad, the report published in the leading English language daily The News said. The framework of this strategy was finalized in secret meetings of President Zardari with Shujaat Hussain, Pervez Elahi and Moonis Elahi. However, these were denied by presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar. Sources claimed that Chaudhrys told Zardari to extend cooperation not only in Punjab but at the federal level as well. The federal government has started considering some sort of legislation to deal with the issue of the 34-member forward bloc of the PML-Q. PML-Q Information Secretary Tariq Azeem said that if both the PPP and the PML-Q managed to form government in Punjab, then definitely it would have a direct impact on Islamabad too where these two parties could form an alliance. However, he did not give further details of this alliance. The sources said Zardari was not happy with deepening relationship of Gilani with Sharif brothers who had shown him huge respect as the prime minister emerged as a peacemaker and acquired role of a sane adviser to the president. For Zardari, the only way to get rid of Gilani was to make an alliance with the PML
