THE Asian Consuls General Club hosted a memorable screening of Malaysia at the ongoing second Asian Film Festival, on Thursday. “It is an honor to be part of the film festival,” said Hidayat Abdul Hamid, the Consul General of Malaysia. Documentary film “Malaysia truly Asia and Enchanting Gateway” featured the sights and sounds of Malaysia with breath taking and otherworldly tourist sites truly earning Malaysia its title as a tropical paradise. The screening was kept interesting as raffle tickets were given out and gifts awaited the lucky winners. This was followed by a mini break where traditional Malaysian food was served, and managed to tease the viewers taste buds to a significant extent. The feature film “Puteri Gunung Ledang” was then screened and it portrayed an epic fantasy film based on the legend of a princess who lived on top of Gunug Ledang and a Malaccan Sultan's effort to court her. The film fuses history, mythology and occasional scenes of action to tell a compelling tale of forbidden love that is unable to flourish with time as the need to maintain the country's integrity overrides the couple's personal desires.
