ON Wednesday, the Pakistani feature film “Khuda Ke Liye” was presented by the Pakistani consulate for the second Asian Film Festival. “We have chosen this film, because this is the movie which is the need of the hour, we have to show the people that we are not terrorists but victim of terrorism so we want to show the exact image what terrorism is in Pakistan,” said Pakistan Consul General Zaighamuddin Azam. “I would certainly request my colleagues from the European side to come and see this (film) because it will give them an exact image of Pakistan,” he added. The film - directed by Shoaib Mansoor - is very popular amongst South Asians and claimed to be ‘the best Pakistani film ever made'. The story is of two brothers who end up on different sides of the same fence. The film focuses on a young man's transition to fundamentalist beliefs, but gives it a deeper perspective by pitching in the voice of moderate Muslims as well. The story of the films which revolves around the life of two brothers Mansoor (Shan) the older son leaves for USA for studies and gets married with a native girl. On the other hand his brother Sarmad (Fawad Khan) gets seduced by the so called religious brainwashing of clerics and enlists as a clueless Jihadi. Sarmed marries his London-raised cousin Mariam (Iman Ali) against her wishes because he and her hypocritical father think its in her best interest. Mariam's domineering father is content in dumping his daughter with a fundamentalist Sarmad in the tribal regions of Wazirstan, than marrying her off to a non-Muslim Briton. A large number of Pakistani nationals and Consuls general of different countries were present on the opening of the Film. “I just came to watch this movie because I heard it is the best Pakistani movie of the year and has nice music,” said Mrs. Huma Naqvi an attendee at film festival. “It's really a great film. After the Indonesian film this was the next best film to watch, as its appeals to the international audience,” said Abdul Latif Mohammed Lafeer, the Sri Lankan Consul General.
