Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAA) reduced fuel consumption by about 159,800 tons in 2008 in line with a program established by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). SAA started the fuel reduction program by forming an executive committee to follow up IATA guidelines. The committee included SAA director general and representatives of the administrations of marketing, air operations, technical affairs, financial affairs and other concerned sectors. Meanwhile, SAA logged 375,482 flying hours in 2008 in comparison to 267,438 hours in 2007.
