Police in Al-Laith are investigating a complaint from a man who accused a security patrol of delaying the transfer of his son to hospital, resulting in him suffering from medical complications and going into a coma. Khamees Mufnik Al-Halali said that his son fell down a well on Sunday while drawing water, and that he immediately set off for hospital where his son was given first aid. However, due to the severity of the child's injuries, which included a head injury and multiple fractures in the foot, doctors ordered that he be transferred to another hospital as long as the police had no objections and were treating the incident as an accident. “We called the police but they didn't come,” said Al-Halali, “so two of my other sons went off in search of a police patrol, and when they found one the policemen refused to make the report, saying they had been sent out to fetch dinner for their colleagues at the police station.” “When things got heated, the policemen sent two men dressed in civilian clothes to the hospital. We wanted to check their identities but they refused to reveal any identification and instead arrested all of us on the spot,” Al-Halali said. “We were then taken to the police station accused of traffic violations, while my son lay in pools of blood in the hospital.” Al-Halali managed to inform the chief of police in Al-Laith, Khalid Al-Hamzani, who ordered their release and the immediate removal of Al-Halali's son, who had since gone into a coma, to another hospital. Al-Halali has raised his complaint with the chief of police and the local governor.
