The Higher Technical Institute for Women began a three-day training course and workshop here on Monday for small-scale projects. The course was launched at the main hall of the institute. Training sessions are conducted by a number of the institute's professional trainers of business management and accounting. According to Niqar Abdulrrahman Jan, head of the institute, the workshops and courses are a first step in providing young women with training that can guarantee good job opportunities by obtaining the skills necessary for preparing feasibility studies for their own projects. “These courses can also provide trainees with professional skills in accounting, finance, and marketing, as well as building their confidence in the art of dealing with customers,” Jan said. Jan added that one of the training sessions is entitled “How to Start your Mini Project”, which aims to help young women think of ways to start small projects that can be made bigger and more profitable. “This course provides young women with basic skills to help them come up with investment ideas,” she said. Jan also added that the training course is under the supervision of the Center for Small Enterprise at the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC). “The Center will provide its services and examine the presented feasibility studies which will be completed after the training program. After that, the Center will send a loan request to the Saudi Credit Bank and Savings to enable the trainee to obtain financing,” Jan said. She pointed out that the center's services do not stop after the trainee gets her loan. “The first step is always critical, so the center follows the development of the project and provides advice when necessary to ensure that the project is a success,” she added. The program attracts Saudi women who want to start their own projects, provided they are aged between 18 to 45 years and have obtained at least a secondary school certificate.
