England's football squad, “Doctor Who” actor David Tennant and singer Tom Jones join forces on Friday to raise money for Africa in the Red Nose Day charity telethon. The biennial Comic Relief event on the BBC will also feature a parody of Abba-themed hit “Mamma Mia!” starring comedy duo Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders. The music sketch includes cameo roles from actress Sienna Miller, “Absolutely Fabulous” star Joanna Lumley, “Life on Mars” actor Philip Glenister and comedian Alan Carr. David Beckham, Rio Ferdinand and Peter Crouch join in as “Gavin and Stacey” actor James Corden gives the national soccer squad an impromptu team talk, recorded before England's friendly international against Spain last month. Tom Jones will make a guest appearance on a one-off edition of “Top of the Pops”, with performances promised from rock bands Franz Ferdinand and Oasis. Money raised from the evening's show, presented by Tennant and “Big Brother” host Davina McCall, will go to support charity projects in Africa. In 2007, viewers pledged 40 million pounds and organisers hope Friday's show will top that total despite the economic downturn.
