Makkah police arrested a Saudi man after they received reports of a charred body found in a car early on Sunday morning. Witnesses called the police after they found a burned car on the holy city's Al-Aadel street, with a body burned beyond recognition inside. Major Abdulmohsen Al-Miman, spokesman for the Makkah Police Department, told the Saudi Gazette that the burned body was of a Saudi man aged about 39, but the police still have no more information about his identity. “The witness had noticed that there was a burned body in an unknown car at about 3:00 AM (Sunday), then he called us about it. That's all we know so far,” said Miman. The body has been transferred to Al-Nour hospital, and the owner of the car has been brought in for questioning, added Miman. In another, unrelated incident, an unknown person splashed acid at a 35-year-old Saudi man when the latter was about to head for work on Sunday morning. Miman said the victim suffered acid burns to 30 percent of his body. “We have no further information about the assailant at this time, and the case is still under investigation at Al-Kakiyah police precinct,” he said on Sunday afternoon. __
