The Control and Investigation Board (CIB) is investigating some governmental agencies and their employees for being slow in responding to inquiries by the Board of General Control (BGC). Abdul Aziz Al-Goaib, the CIB's Media and Research Director, said that article 16 of the BGC's law states that it is mandatory for ministries, governmental services bodies, public institutions and municipalities to respond promptly to any inquiries by the BGC. He added that the head of the department or administration that fails to respond to the BGC's within appropriate time is held liable for the delay. Goaib further said that a delay in responding to an inquiry would be considered as negligence on the part of the government department in question. The employee or employees responsible for the delay are held responsible and subject to penalties stated in disciplinary laws. Goaib said the CIB notifies the agency being questioned, and requires a response to the inquiry in no more than one month after the date of inquiry, according to article 11 of the BGC. __
