The Court of Cassation in Makkah on Wednesday overturned a Bisha court verdict sentencing two men to three years in jail and 2,000 lashes each for stealing two sheep in Bisha. The verdict is “unjust” and not commensurate with the crime they committed, the court ruled on an application for leniency by the two thieves, Abdullah Atiq and Masoud Ayiadh, who are lodged in Bisha General Prison. The Cassation Court returned the case file to the court in Bisha asking it to review the sentence. The Cassation Court also sought urgent clarifications from the three judges who had passed the sentence.
