A pilot is forced to make an emergency landing due to a hitch in the plane after duly informing the control tower. In the landing process, the pilot loses control and the plane slams the airstrip and it is torn into two pieces with fire breaking out inside the plane. Fire Brigade and rescue teams arrive at the location immediately to deal with the situation. This, of course, is not in real. The whole exercise is part of the annual emergency drill at Abha airport conducted by the General Authority for Civil Aviation on Sunday. “The drill is basically meant to gauge the preparedness of the authorities to deal with any emergency situation,” said Ayman Bakr Nassif, senior GACA official. The Fire Brigade and rescue teams quickly evacuated 45 passengers and a crew of five and a medical team which also arrived at the site within no time attended to them.
