The mayoralty here is studying the establishment of an underwater tunnel that links southern and northern Obhur, said the mayoralty's undersecretary for projects and construction, Ibrahim Katabkhana. But Katabkhana did not reveal the length of the project and said “the tunnel, if executed, would be the first of its kind in the region.” With regard to another mayoralty project, Katabkhana said the company to be awarded the contract to prepare the designs for the suspension bridge in Obhur will be selected next Saturday. In all there are nine bidders for the project. The bridge, the dimensions of which have not yet been determined, will connect southern and northern Obhur. Meanwhile, Mustafa Hosni, director of investment planning at the mayoralty, said the mayoralty provided 25 investment opportunities for the private sector including stalls at Al-Khomrah in southern Jeddah, others in Umm Al-Salam and kiosks at the south Corniche.
