Mexico allows GM corn

Mexico is changing its laws to allow the planting of genetically modified corn for experimental reasons. Growers will now be able to apply for government permission for experimental plots. Mexico has banned GM varieties completely until now. Opponents warn that modified corn could contaminate fields and threaten the crop's genetic diversity. Mexico has more than 200 varieties of corn.
