Edwin van der Sar lost his record-breaking run without conceding but Manchester United won 2-1 at Newcastle to move seven points clear at the top of the English Premier League with a game in hand on Wednesday. Bayern eliminated Defending champion Bayern Munich crashed out of the German Cup when it lost to Bayer Leverkusen 4-2 in Wednesday's quarterfinals. Bayern trailed by three goals before scoring twice within two minutes to get back into the match. But Juergen Klinsmann's team could not get the third goal to send the match into extra time and lost the first of the two domestic titles it swept last season.
