The third engineering conference, organized by the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) under the title “Arbitration engineering and its impact on national development” opened here Tuesday night at the Hilton. Prince Mish'al Bin Majed, Governor of Jeddah, inaugurated the conference on behalf of Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah Region. About 500 experts and 15,000 engineers from both the private and public sectors are participating in the event. The conference comes within the framework of the SCE's interest in the field of engineering arbitration, development of this facility and the performance of arbitrators, and their accreditation in line with developments in the Kingdom and the engineering labor market, where an estimated 51 cases were referred to the SCE while the number of arbitrators totaled 277. “This conference aims to shed light on the developments in the area of arbitration in the current phase where there is a major acceleration in the volume and type of construction and development projects in the Kingdom,” said Abdulrahman Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Rabeeah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Council of Engineers. Al-Rabeeah announced that the second Saudi engineering forum under the title “The engineering profession and its role in sustaining the Kingdom's development” will be held on March 28-30. The forum will be organized by King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in collaboration with the SCE to discuss important areas of the professional development, academic research and challenges of industrial growth.
