Jamia Millia Islamia Alumni Association Riyadh Chapter (JMIAA) organized a family get-together, in Riyadh attended by more than 70 families. The program included quiz, painting competitions, cultural evening for children and distributions of certificates and prizes. Professor Mushirul Hasan, vice-chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), who was in Riyadh last week, on the invitation of the Institute for Diplomatic Studies Riyadh met a delegation of JMIAA, which included President Khursheed Anwar, Vice President Prof. Tariq Beg, General Secretary Mohammad Zafar Bari, Executive Committee Member Aftab Nizami, and General Body Member Ghizal Mahdi. Although, due to his pre-scheduled departure form Riyadh, Prof. Mushirul Hasan could not attend the event, however, he expressed his best wishes to the Association for the success of its program. Ghizal Mahdi, the master of ceremony for the event, informed that Jamia Millia Alumni Directory Yahoo Group is playing a significant role in transmitting the news items relating to Jamia campus to its 650 Jamiaite subscribers across the world, and in providing an electronic platform for the Jamiaites to interact with each other . Chief guest Professor Syed Sarwar Hussein recollected the great, self-less efforts of founders of Jamia Millia Islamia like Dr. Zakir Husain, the ex President of India, Hakim Ajmal Khan, Mohammed Ali Johar, Dr. Muskhtar Ansari, Dr. Abid Husain and many others. Guest of honor Dr. Pervez Ahmed stressed that one should not forget the pragmatic, realistic and progressive attitude of founders of Jamia Millia Islamia. Dr. Zaheer Basheer, a research scientist form SABIC suggested that JMIAA should organize career counseling programs for students, in collaboration with other Indian organizations in the Kingdom. __
