A public hospital in Dammam has refused to receive a child who has been in a coma for six months saying his condition needs long-term treatment and care. The child's family asked doctors at the Maternity and Children's Hospital in Dammam to move him to a specialist medical center following six months of treatment with no signs of improvement. The father of two-year-old Abdul Aziz said he went into a coma after a swimming pool accident. The child was placed in a private hospital for several months but never fully responded to treatment. Once the limit of his medical insurance – worth SR140,000 – had been exceeded the father was forced to move him to the Maternity Hospital. He now wishes to find a place in a specialist hospital where his son can receive proper treatment.
