Qahtani, President of the National Society for Human Rights (NSHR), has said that 1,284 victims of domestic violence sought protection from the organization between 2004 and 2008. The NSHR received 306 cases of violence involving children and women, including both physical and psychological abuse and children being denied education. Other incidents involved sexual harassment, false accusations of adultery, depriving children from seeing their mothers, and being prevented from earning a living. Of the 211 cases of physical abuse registered last year, 47 were in Riyadh, 25 in the Eastern Province, 103 in Jeddah, 4 in Al-Jouf, 16 in Jizan and 16 in Makkah.
