The 10th International Saudi Weddings Exhibition under the title “Our Weddings 2009”, opened its doors at the Hilton Hotel on Monday evening. More than 140 foreign and local companies are taking part in the three-day exhibition patronized by Princess Moudhi Bin Mansour Bin Abdul Aziz. Several members of the royal family, businesswomen and other prominent female figures from society were present at the opening of the exhibition. It is expected to be the largest gathering of women working in the world of weddings, all come to display their contributions to wedding ceremonies, such as female fashion designers, beauty experts, décor designers, wedding hall organizers, and designers of wedding boxes, chocolates, flowers, souvenirs, gifts, wedding invitation cards, gold and jewelry. Adel Abdul Shakour, Executive President of the company organizing the event, said the latest innovations in wedding products and services are on view, some being exhibited for the first time. “The volume of participation is up 30 percent this year reflecting the importance of the show,” said Abdul Shakour. A large number of charities involved in work connected to marriage are also taking part. “The exhibition will contribute in spreading awareness of marriage, especially for young people about to get married,” Shakour said. “The organizers of the exhibition have taken into consideration the deep-rooted Saudi customs and traditions,” he said. “The exhibition offers us a good chance to collect our needs without facing difficulties to go anywhere,” said Maha Al-Jawher, Saudi pharmacist who is preparing for her marriage. The exhibition is open to family members of all ages.
