It took five months for a father to have his daughter returned to him after she was kidnapped from her school by the family of her divorced mother. During those five months, the father was forced to go from one office to another including courts and police stations in order to be reunited with his daughter. It all started when the girl turned eight, which is the legal age at which her father is allowed to take care of her. The man took his daughter to Taif to live with him, but her mother's family were not happy with that so they kidnapped her from her school and took her to Jeddah. The father was shocked when he was informed of the kidnapping and called the police. He later received a call telling him that the young girl was in Jeddah. Major Turki Al-Shihri, spokesman of Taif Police, said, “An urgent letter was sent to Jeddah Police to contact the mother's family and return the girl to her father, but the family refused to part with her, forcing the father to lodge a complaint at the governor's office. Finally, the case was closed by Jeddah Police when all the parties signed an undertaking to confirm an agreement between them which allows the father to take the daughter since he is her legitimate sponsor and allows the mother to visit her and take her to Jeddah for two days every two weeks.
