Hilal won the 27th Arab Clubs Volleyball Championship following a 3-1 victory over Al-Ahly of Egypt in the final in Beirut Sunday. Earlier, Mishal Bejaya of Algeria finished third after beating Al-Ahli Jeddah 3-2. Prince Sultan Bin Fahd, Chairman of the General Presidency of Youth Welfare (GPYW), congratulated Al-Hilal club for winning the title for the third time. Al-Hilal cruised to the final after beating Al-Ahli Jeddah 3-0 in the semifinal Saturday while Egypt's Al-Ahly qualified by beating Mishal Bejaya of Algeria. Al-Hilal's Ahmed Al-Bakhit, who was crowned as the best player in the championship, led his team to seal the first set 25-20. Five-time winner Al-Ahly responded in the second set with a 25-22 win. The great challenge between the two finalists in the third set saw Al-Hilal winning 36-34. Al-Hilal players ended Al-Ahly's hopes in the fourth set when they stole the show at 25-19 to win the title for the third time. The last Arab volleyball title won by Riyadh side was in 1997 when the team hosted the championship in Saudi Arabia. __
