Eleven new cases of Hepatitis A have been reported in Mahani village in northern Taif and a medical committee has been formed to take remedial measures. Medical teams have visited the residences of infected people and vaccinated cohabitants since the outbreak was discovered last week, when the Health Affairs Department in Taif announced a state of emergency. The committee has found that most of the residents here depend on rainwater and some contaminated wells in the area though they have been repeatedly warned against using these water resources. There are no desalination plants for the provision of potable water in the area, which is home to over 30,000 residents.
