An Indonesian housemaid was left by her sponsor in front of a recruitment office in Dammam. The maid, 50-year-old Subaida, was later moved to the deportation center with the help of police. Subaida was seen sitting in front of the office near National Commercial Bank in Madinathul Ummal in Adama district here at 11 A.M. Wednesday. She was still sitting there even after the office had closed. An employee of another office in the same building noticed her and informed the police. The housemaid only had the photocopies of her Iqama and passport with her. She told the Asian employee who came forward to help her that her sponsor took her original Iqama and told her that her passport was in the recruitment office. Subaida's sponsor made her believe that if she waited in front of the office, they would send her back to Indonesia. She also said that she had worked for the same sponsor for about 28 weeks and was paid for only 14 weeks. She was left to sit in front of the recruiting office with her luggage for traveling home to Indonesia. Many expats including the female workers of a nearby dispensary came forward to help Subaida who was weak due to the long wait in front of the office without food and water. The police came with an ambulance and took Subaida to the deportation center after giving her medical aid.
