The guardians of female teachers and students in Ahad Rufaidah have called for the formation of a committee made up of members from the Hai'a and security patrols to prevent the gathering of youths at girls' schools. Parents have become concerned at the level of harassment girls receive in secondary schools, particularly those who walk home. Schoolgirls say they need security patrols at every intermediate and secondary school, as well as a presence from the Hai'a. “We'd like to see legal safeguards to protect teachers' and pupils' dignity until they reach home safely and securely,” said one schoolgirl. “We also need Shariah punishments to deter youths who harass girls.” Sheikh Ali Al-Qahtani, Director of the Hai'a in Al-Wadiyain, said the issue requires a firm stance from the Hai'a and police near girls' schools.
