A muezzin (Caller to prayer) who 16 years ago donated land to the Ministry of Health for a health center that still has not been built has demanded his land back. Mardi Bin Askr Al-Otaibi gave the land in the village of Al-Lahyania to help local residents suffering from diabetes and hypertension, and who are obliged to make journeys of several hours in order to receive medical attention. Sixteen years later, however, there is still no sign of the center, and Al-Otaibi has said that he wants his land - a plot of some 10,000 sq m – returned to him unless the ministry starts construction soon. A spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Makkah said the center had already been included in plans for the region, approved by the regional council and sent to the ministry.
