The General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training (GOTEVOT) has forged an agreement with the Credit Fund to finance small scale projects for prisoners with vocational training certificates. Ahmad Khalifa, Principal of Vocational Schools at GOTEVOT, said short vocational training courses have been designed for the inmates interested in running small businesses pointing out that the courses will be held at the “Center for Development of Small and Medium Businesses”. He said the agreement reached by GOTEVOT and the Fund allows two inmates to share the loan to facilitate the refunding of the loan. He said the authorities concerned at GOTEVOT are planning to increase the accommodation capacity of vocational training in prisons to 120 percent in the next three months. Khalifa said the organization will open seven new vocational training centers in prisons in Riyadh, Rafha, Ahsa, Khobar, Tabuk, Jeddah and Jizan noting that so far 3000 inmates have completed vocational training programs in different specializations.
