King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has commended Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak and his country for clinching Palestinian reconciliation and sending a signal to the whole world that “reason .... is necessary in addressing every enmity or disagreement.” In a message sent to Mubarak on Friday, King Abdullah also congratulated Fatah, Hamas and other Palestinian factions for agreeing to set up a unity government by the end of March, during talks initiated by Mubarak in Cairo a day earlier. The King said Egypt has played a historic role in reaching “the correct and sound way” towards Palestinian reconciliation in the interests of Arab and Islamic nations. “It is time that they (the Palestinians) say to the Arab and Islamic nations and the whole world that they are greater than the wound, far from disagreement and more able to reach reconciliation,” the King said. Palestinian unity in word and stand was firmly cemented in response to Almighty Allah's call, the King said, citing the following passage from the Holy Qur'an: “And hold fast, all together, by the rope which Allah (stretches out for you), and be not divided among yourselves and remember with gratitude Allah's favor on you for ye were enemies and He joined your hearts in love, so that by His grace ye became brethren.” Allah's words are as eternal as truth, the King said. “They ordain the dominance of dialogue over discord, logic over whim, and reason over ignorance,” he said. “They do not exclude any creatures, and indeed they are directed to all humanity. Almighty Allah says, ‘O mankind We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).'” (S.49 V. 13) “We hope that this good call will find repercussions all over the world so that peoples will unite on a word that renounces evil, fights crime and terrorism, and call for love and tolerance, and so that humanity awakens to witness a bright future enjoying safety, security, peace and coexistence between nations and peoples,” the King said. __
