A Saudi man has lodged a complaint with the Ministry of Health alleging that a doctor left his wife with an open artery after performing a Caesarian section. Abdulmajeed Al-Ahmari stated Tuesday that his wife was admitted to Yamamah Hospital two weeks earlier for a Caesarean section, but two days after the procedure doctors found blood collecting under the skin due to an open artery. Al-Ahmari further claims that the hospital carried out another operation to save his wife's life without his knowledge and without providing him with a report. Health authorities are scheduled to meet and look into the case on Saturday, with investigations into the alleged malpractice on the part of the female doctor to be led by a doctor from another hospital. The case will then be sent to the Shariah Health Committee, a neutral body headed by a judge from the Ministry of Justice and composed of expert consultants in the same field as the doctor who allegedly made the error. Al-Ahmari is seeking compensation from the hospital for the error that threatened the life of his spouse.
