A dummy run for the planned separation of Egyptian conjoined twins Hassan and Mahmoud, who arrived in Riyadh some two weeks ago, was successfully done here on Wednesday. All preparations are in place for Saturday's surgical operation of the Egyptian conjoined twins, according to sources at King Abdul Aziz Medical City. Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, Minister of Health, and head of the multidisciplinary team, reviewed the operative plan. Dr. Rabeeah also held meeting with the twins' parents and explained them about the 15-hour surgical procedures which will complete in eight different phases. The parents expressed confidence and satisfaction over the multidisciplinary team's plans and preparedness. “We all pray for a successful outcome of the surgical procedures,” the Egyptian parents were quoted as saying. The Egyptian conjoined twins will be 21st set to be separated in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Rabeeah held meeting with Dr. Bandar Al-Knawy, Chief Executive Officer, King Abdul Aziz Medical City. After detailed study and discussions the multidisciplinary team has decided to perform the separation of the Egyptian conjoined on Saturday. The Egyptians are conjoined at pelvis and require separation of their abdomen, intestines, urinary and genital tract.
