The General Court in Jeddah has annulled the marriage of a woman who remained a virgin because her husband suffered from impotency. The wife kept their marital secret quiet for three years until she took sick and went to a hospital. When the doctor asked her if she was pregnant, she broke down and revealed the truth. The nurse then told the wife's family and they asked the afflicted husband to divorce her. When he demanded back the SR40,000 dowry he had paid for his wife's hand, her father took him to court seeking material and moral compensation. The court annulled the marriage contract and ruled that the dowry did not have to be returned.
