Taiwan's Lu beats Hewitt at Delray Beach

hsun of Taiwan knocked out Lleyton Hewitt 7-5, 2-6, 6-2 in their first meeting at the Delray Beach International on Tuesday.
Eighth-seeded Lu rebounded from a woeful second set against Hewitt by winning three of five break points and limiting the former No. 1 to one of six.
Fourth-seeded Igor Kunitsyn was defeated by Russian countryman Evgeny Korolev 6-4, 7-6 (3). Seventh-seeded Jeremy Chardy of France edged 2006 champion Tommy Haas of Germany 7-6 (7), 6-3 and next plays Andrey Golubev of Kazakhstan, who beat 16-year-old Evan King of the US in his ATP debut 6-2, 6-4.
One-time finalist Vince Spadea of the US beat Denis Gremelmayr of Germany 2-6, 7-5, 6-1, and Gilles Muller of Luxembourg fired 16 aces past qualifier Ryan Sweeting of the US in winning 7-6 (5), 6-2.
Djokovic struggles
In Dubai, top-seeded Novak Djokovic struggled with his serve before beating Italian qualifier Flavio Cipolla 6-3, 6-2 Tuesday in the first round of the Dubai Tennis Championships.
The Serb broke Cipolla in the second game of the first set, but the Italian broke back in the fifth. Djokovic found his game after that, however, and was rarely troubled.
Third-seeded Gilles Simon of France also struggled before advancing, defeating Kuwaiti wild card Mohammed Ghareeb 5-7, 6-4, 6-4, and eighth-seeded Marat Safin of Russia lost to Richard Gasquet of France 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.
In other matches Dmitry Tursunov of Russia beat Andreas Seppi of Italy 6-1, 6-4; sixth seed Russian Igor Andreev beat compatriot Rik de Voest 6-4, 6-0; Jan Hernych of the Czech Republic beat Russian Mikhael Youzhny 4-6, 6-1, 6-4; Simone Bolelli of Italy beat Viktor Troicki of Serbia 6-3, 6-4; Arnaud Clement of France beat Rainer Schuttler of Germany 1-6, 6-3, 6-3; and Julien Benneteau of France beat Jurgen Melzer of Austria 1-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Querrey, Koubek advance
In Florida, second-seeded Sam Querrey defeated Guillermo Canas of Argentina 7-6 (3), 6-4 to advance to the second round at the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships on Monday.
American Querrey, who asked for a wildcard into the tournament on Friday, had 13 aces during the 1 hour, 38 minute match. Querrey will next face Christophe Rochus of Belgium, a 6-3, 6-4 winner over Croatia's Roko Karanusic.
Earlier, Austrian Stefan Koubek's return from injury continued to gain momentum as he beat American Bobby Reynolds 6-4, 6-3.
In another first round match, fifth-seeded Steve Darcis of Belgium was upset by Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain, 6-3, 6
