Seized dairy products that were found to be contaminated with harmful melamine were destroyed on Monday, a Ministry of Commerce and Industry statement said. “Based on the results of the examination and analysis of samples of Chinese food products, including the seized dairy products, officials destroyed 2,142,470 kg of melamine tainted products,” the statement said. It added that the ministry in coordination with Food and Drug Authority had withdrawn samples of Chinese milk products and subjected all Chinese baby-formula products to examination and analysis in specialized laboratories to ensure the availability of melamine free products.
