A delegation from the Saudi Post will go to United Arab Emirates to participate in the second round of the five-day Arab Stamps Exhibition in Dubai, starting March 5. The exhibition, under the patronage of Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Makhtoum, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Culture and Arts Foundation, is being held in collaboration with the Emirates Association of philatelists. A large number of merchants, printing presses, and stamp printers are set to participate in the exhibition which is aimed at showing the efforts of Saudi Post and its counterparts in various other Arab countries. “This is the second round of the exhibition. We are aiming to have an annual exhibition each in different country,” said Abdullah Al-Wehaimer, Stamps Department Manager, and a member of the Saudi delegation in the exhibition. According to Al-Wehaimer, all stamps produced from 2005 onwards will be displayed in the exhibition. “We will present all our latest stamps, which will give a brief idea about the Kingdom's history, as well as the latest changes in the field of stamps industry.” Visitors will be able to buy the stamps that they like, he said. Representatives of 16 countries will exchange their ideas to improve the stamps' industry. “This exhibition will work as a collection of the Arab culture where every country presents its best to the visitors,” added Al-Wehaimer. Stamps from Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries, he said, are the most improved and attractive for the visitors. The exhibition will also have several lectures for the children to make them aware of stamps and the techniques and benefits of collecting them as a hobby. Al-Wehaimer mentioned that the Saudi Post has disseminated several themes to the citizens through the stamps such as national dialogue, the butterflies which means a country free of diseases and the stamps show Saudi women during their work time in different fields such as medicine, computing and teaching.
