Agriculture Ministry officials in Bisha have denied the existence of bird flu in the region and said that recent poultry deaths were due to bronchitis. The officials described bronchitis as “a normal disease in birds,” and said that precautionary measures had been taken at poultry farms to protect them from any threat of bird flu. The agricultural directorate in Bisha had received complaints from residents concerning a number of deaths in chickens on a private farm in the Haraf district. Experts visited the location to examine the dead birds and gave vaccines to the remaining chickens.
