Portuguese Jose Peseiro signed here Saturday a three-month SR2.75 million (550,000 euros) contract with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation to coach the national soccer side. Prince Nawaf Bin Faisal, Vice President of Youth Welfare and Vice President of SAFF and Chairman of the National Teams and Players' Affairs Committee, signed the contract with the Portuguese coach. Following the signing, Prince Nawaf said the coach had certain conditions which have been met. Peseiro had requested a four-day meeting with the national team players prior to the next camp. This would enable him to take a closer look at the players' abilities. A national team camp would then be held before it plays a friendly match against the Iraqi national team. Nawaf said the coach also requested to pay visits to the clubs in the Kingdom and meet with the technical and medical staff and officials concerned. Earlier Saturday, Prince Sultan Bin Fahd, Chairman of Youth Welfare and President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, received the Portuguese coach at his office here. Prince Sultan said the coach's signing shows the keenness of the SAFF to help improve the standard of the sport in the Kingdom. He expressed his full confidence in the capabilities of the national team's technical staff under the supervision of Peseiro in preparing the national team for its upcoming matches. Prince Nawaf had earlier said Peseiro was picked after several meetings with the members of SAFF. “We had put many names on the table and finally we decided on Peseiro,” Prince Nawaf said.
