Sinaia Station here tailed a rented car driven by an African resident and seized a consignment of liquor (Araq) before it was delivered. The Hai'a had been tipped off that the car was carrying a consignment of Araq and were able to arrest the expatriate when he stopped to deliver part of the consignment. On inspecting the car, they found in the boot 120 bottles of liquor, each with a capacity of 1.5 liters, wrapped in plastic garbage bags. The man was delivering the liquor to compatriots who intended to sell it to customers in the area. The man was arrested and it is suspected that he used a forged resident permit (Iqama) to rent the car. He attempted to take advantage of the sunset (Maghrib) prayer time to deliver the consignment of liquor, as he thought there would be no checkpoints as Hai'a staff were busy calling people to prayer. His plan, however, did not succeed. The Hai'a staff destroyed the confiscated liquor and the man was handed over to the authorities concerned for completion of investigations. The man's arrest led to the Hai'a discovering the distillery from which the liquor consignment came. There they seized and destroyed tons of fermented materials.
