Scenes like this are frequent in the capital, particularly after the Riyadh Municipal authorities awarded street cleaning contracts to private companies. However, there is a need for awareness campaign among the residents highlighting the hazards of littering leftover meals containing chicken, beef or mutton pieces, that attract stray cats. Incidents of speeding vehicles running over kitten are also increasing. It is very rare that the cleaning companies immediately arrive to wash the area. In most cases the place starts to stink causing inconvenience to the passersby.
