Makkah Mayoralty will continue demolition of buildings around the Grand Mosque next week. These buildings were acquired for the expansion and development of the northern courtyards of the Haram. Dr. Osama Al-Bar, Mayor of Makkah, said among the buildings are hotels in the Central Area. Several of them have already been demolished last year within King Abdullah Expansion Project for the Grand Mosque. About 1,000 buildings have been demolished, he added. Denying demolition of buildings in Al-Azizia District, Al-Bar said it was only a survey work on the eastern side. He said improvement of Al-Khansa Area and expanding its roads is in the cards. A number of roads would be opened in Al-Malawi including a main road starting from King Fahd Tunnels and ending on Al-Masjid Al-Haram Road before Makkah Governorate Office, he said.
