The search for a car believed to have mysteriously plunged into the Arbaeen Lake last week was temporarily called off Friday until a full report is received from the Saudi Geological Survey (SGS), authorities said. The final report of the SGS team that participated in the search operation, expected to be released Saturday, will help authorities make a final decision on the search operation, said Col. Saleh Al-Shihri, spokesman of the Coast Guard in the Makkah region. Divers have searched for a week for a Lexus car that was believed to have plunged into Arbaeen Lake after crashing with another Lexus on the flyover. One witness who was 60 meters from the crash site said that he actually saw the car fall straight into the murky waters of the lake, while two other witnesses who were some 300 meters away said they saw no such thing, describing the idea of a car falling into the lake as a “figment of the imagination.”
