The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has signed an agreement with the Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts (SASCA) to finance the construction of three theaters and promote awareness of violence against children. The theaters will be located in Jeddah, Madina and Al-Ahsa, and their construction will be coordinated with the Dramatic Arts Committee in Riyadh. UNICEF has approved a number of projects to combat child abuse which the National Committee for Childhood in Riyadh is carrying out with collaboration with a number of cultural and educational institutions. Dr. Yusuf Bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the SASCA, said he hoped the project would greatly increase awareness on the dangers of violence against children on both the social and legal levels and promote an understanding of the importance of children's rights. “Islam has set mutual rights between Muslims and forbidden harm and injustice between them,” Al-Othaimeen said.”The Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) has enjoined that Muslims prevent injustice and respect all rights.”
