The court of Al-Dawadmi on Wednesday upheld a sentencing of capital punishment against a Sri Lankan maid after a guilty verdict was handed out to her for killing a four-month-old baby. The court hearing, which lasted more than four hours, was attended by the late baby's parents, a representative of the Sri Lankan embassy in Saudi Arabia and the maid's attorney. Judges agreed that the evidence and presumptions available suffice to indict the maid. Several parties had sought to convince the baby's family to pardon the maid, but all their efforts were turned down. __
